Victoria’s tourist parks among the most occupied in Australia

New national data has reinforced the strength of Victoria’s tourist park sector, with four Victorian tourism regions ranking among the top 10 in Australia for cabin occupancy.

The Caravan Park Tourism Region Market Performance Report (February 2026) tracks accommodation performance across hundreds of caravan (tourist) parks nationally and highlights the strong demand for cabin accommodation in a number of Victorian destinations.

Among the top performing regions nationally for cabin occupancy, the following Victorian regions were recognised:

• Lakes District (2^nd)
• Geelong & The Bellarine (5^th)
• Goulburn (7^th)
• Phillip Island (9^th)

Caravan & Residential Parks Victoria CEO Scott Parker said having four regions in the national top 10 is a fabulous result for Victoria.

“Victoria’s rankings reflect the diversity of the state’s tourism regions from coastal escapes like the Lakes District to iconic destinations such as the Phillip Island, each part of Victoria offers unique tourist park holiday experiences for travellers,” Mr Parker said.

“With more than 50% of overnight stays in tourist parks, this result reinforces the importance of continuing to be able to provide affordable holidays, high-quality visitor experiences and ongoing investment in cabins, particularly in popular touring destinations.”

“To meet continuing increases in high-quality cabin accommodation in Victoria’s fabulous tourist parks, further investment is required and now is the time for the Victorian Government to support both the cabin planning and glamping accommodation reforms we have sought that will drive even better park operator performance and visitor economies,” Mr Parker said.

“With tens of millions of investment capital leaving regional Victoria for interstate, and the solutions to better support the industry’s future on the minister’s desk for action, now is the time to act and ensure Victoria continues to deliver for all those seeking a fabulous holiday in some of the best locations in the country.”
