Victoria’s caravan and camping sector has reached another significant milestone, with new industry data today revealing a state record $2.8 billion in visitor expenditure, reinforcing the vital role our member tourist parks continue to play in the state’s visitor economy.

The latest Domestic Tourism Statistics released by Tourism Research Australia and prepared for the industry by the Caravan Industry Association of Australia in conjunction with Caravan & Residential Parks Victoria, also show that Victoria welcomed 4.56 million overnight caravan and camping trips (up 13% in the March quarter) in the year ending March 2026, generating 12.56 million visitor nights (up 15% in the March quarter).

For CRPVic members, the figures continue to demonstrate what operators see every day, our member tourist parks remain one of Victoria’s most important tourism assets, driving regional visitation, supporting local businesses and delivering affordable holiday experiences for millions of Australians.

The majority of caravan and camping travel remained intrastate, with around 3.3 million holiday trips taken within Victoria. Interstate visitors also made a significant contribution, recording more than 360,000 holiday trips into the state.

The record $2.8 billion visitor expenditure demonstrates the growing value of the caravan and camping sector and further strengthens CRPVic’s advocacy for greater investment, planning reform and policy settings that support unlocking opportunities in tourist parks across Victoria.
