Victorian caravan parks’ commitment to excellence has been recognised with the highest percentage of positive guest reviews across Australia in 2024.
The result is detailed in The Caravan Park Guest Review Report 2025, launched today by the Caravan Industry Association of Australia at its National Conference.
In 2024, Victoria emerged as the top performer in the Global Review Index (GRI) rankings among Australian states and territories, securing a score of 86.1%, which was also .9% above the national average.
The report provided a detailed look at guest sentiment and operational performance across caravan parks nationally by analysing more than 170,600 guest reviews.
Some of the key take-outs are below and you can also read the full report here:
Strong Review Numbers: Victorian caravan parks have become a dominant force in the Australian market, capturing nearly 20% (34,700) of the national review volume. This strong engagement reflects the significant role that Victorian parks play in the national caravan park industry.
Outstanding Guest Satisfaction: Victoria’s exceptional GRI score of 86.1% demonstrates the outstanding level of guest satisfaction experienced in our Victorian tourist parks, with location and service receiving particularly high praise at 92.3% and 91.5%, respectively.
Guest Demographics and Market Trends: While the majority of reviews came from Australian guests, the increasing presence of reviews from international guests, particularly from Western Europe and Asia, points to a new market opportunity for the state. These emerging communities will be addressed at our CRPVic Conference in Geelong in August.
Growth in Accommodation Metrics: Victorian parks experienced a modest increase in occupancy (+0.1 percentage point) and average daily rates (+2%). The average revenue per available room also saw a healthy increase of 5%.
Continued Opportunities for Value Enhancement: While value was identified as an area with room for improvement compared with other states, receiving a score of 87.2% represents a great opportunity for Victorian park operators to further align their offerings with guest expectations. By focusing on this area, operators can continue to enhance guest experiences and ensure the strong satisfaction ratings remain consistent.
Engagement with Feedback: Park operators across Victoria were found to engage with 54% of reviews—an important metric that reflects the proactive nature of the park management.
Review Platforms and Sources: Victorian caravan parks experienced strong engagement on key review platforms. Booking.com captured 59% of the total review volume, Google followed accounting for 27% of reviews, while Expedia and Tripadvisor played smaller roles, at 6% and 4%, respectively. This highlights the significance of these platforms in shaping guest perceptions, making it crucial for park operators to actively manage their presence on Booking.com and Google, the dominant review channels.
Accreditation Matters: Accredited parks in Victoria performed notably better than non-accredited parks. Not only do parks that have completed the Caravan Holiday Park Accreditation Program receive more reviews, but they also showed a higher rate of responsiveness to guest feedback (62% compared to 46%).
The association is extremely proud of the Victorian results detailed in this report and urges all members to read it to better understand the metrics and consider ways to improve their own guest reviews and feedback.
