Members are advised that the Australian Government will conduct a national test of the new AusAlert emergency warning system on Monday 27 July 2026 at 2:00 pm (AEST) across Victoria.
During the test, compatible mobile phones, tablets and smart watches will display a Critical AusAlert notification, accompanied by a loud siren-like sound and vibration lasting approximately 10 seconds. The message will clearly state that it is a test and that no action is required.
While this is only a system test, it provides a valuable opportunity for tourist, mixed-use and residential parks to familiarise themselves with Australia’s new emergency alert system. Operators may wish to advise staff, residents and guests in advance so they understand the alert is expected and does not indicate an actual emergency.
In a real emergency, AusAlert messages will provide critical information about the nature of the emergency, affected locations, the level of risk and the actions people should take to remain safe. Members are encouraged to ensure staff are aware of the system as part of their emergency management planning.
