$500M spent on Victorian caravan and camping trips in June quarter

Published on 03 October 2025

Victoria continues to excel across the national caravan and camping sector, according to the March – June 2025 Domestic Tourism Statistics.

One million caravan and camping trips were recorded across the state during the three months, generating 2.7 million visitor nights and contributing $502.9 million to the visitor economy.

Highlighting the passion Victorians have for short term holidays in their own backyard, 89% of those trips were taken by Victorians, confirming Victorian tourist park operators are offering some of the best guest experiences in the country.

Victoria also continues to deliver some of the highest-yield visitors nationally. Strong spend on tourist park experiences and in local economies confirms the high economic value of every Victorian caravan and camping trip.

These results underline a vitally important metric of industry importance – that camping, particularly in regulated environments, is not only a much-loved lifestyle, but also a significant driver of Victorian jobs, investment and growth in our state.

Caravan & Residential Parks Victoria continues to advocate for the Victorian Government to address planning challenges and unlock growth opportunities. This includes improving the planning framework for the installation of cabins (UMDs) and glamping accommodation so that parks can diversify their site-mix and meet changing visitor expectations.
